#sewingproblems

The other night I was about to start a new project and I wanted to make sure I had matching thread first, in order to avoid taking a trip out to the fabric store... If I didn't have some matching thread on hand I was going to just pick a different fabric to use. That's how much I didn't feel like driving to the store.

So I was looking at my fabric and had two really close thread contenders. Urgh, but I couldn't decide which was a closer match! One had been used before and one was a new spool... Do I just use the thread that had already been partially used for some other project? Or does the other thread that hadn't been used yet match better??

I wrestled with this for several minutes going back and forth... I'm very indecisive... Until I noticed...

The labels on the ends. #939. on both. They are the exact same color! Argh! Has this happened to you before? Or any other hilarious sewing problems that only someone else who sews can sympathize with? Please share!

(Also note that even after I knew they were the Exact Same Color, I still wasn't convinced... Had the older spool faded... What if there was labeling fiasco in the Gutermann factory and something went awry... Am I too OCD... that's probably it.)

    1. Hehe, well at least I didn't make a trip to the store to buy thread and then come home to realize I now had 3 spools of the Exact Same random purple color...

  3. Haha, what a funny story! But I can somehow relate to it, I also have a fantasy that might go very wild and imagine weird scenarios...

  4. This is exactly what I did last night when finishing my costume—looking for black thread, convinced that one was navy when it was, in fact, black! You are definitely not alone :) Also, I just put up the post nominating you as one of the next stops on the Blog Hop!

    1. Oh no, black and navy can be tough! What was your costume? Thanks for the nomination! I'll write mine up this week :)

  5. LOL!
I do thing threads can be just slightly different for the same colour number. When crocheting or knitting a garment you have to make sure all the balls of wool are from the same dye-lot because even tiny tiny differences between balls of wool from different dyelots of the same colour can show up looking very weird and spoil the whole garment.

    1. I almost blamed the dye lots!! Yeah for knitting I can imagine a difference in dye lots might be pretty noticeable - that would drive me crazy! Haha
